Today is sunday
I wonder if Sunday
Is an abbreviation
Of ‘Sunny day’
Anyway Sunday is
a perfect day for travel
Or an escape
Just to eat ice cream in a beach
Would be nice
But this Sunday
I have to go
For an online competition
It’s okay though
The only problem is
I haven’t practice yet
I gotta go
See you next sunday

A New Habit

I would like to start a new habit.

The habit to be grateful.

As I am writing this, I am grateful that

Even though my eyes have myopia, they can still see, capturing every moments in my life

Even though I don’t have the best-looking body, I can still digest food and eat anything happily

Even though my legs are short, they can still stand and my feet can still press on the ground

Even though my hands are skinny-looking, they are supa’ strong and can do planks, supporting my body

Even though my hair is usually messy and untidy, It still part of me that I have and treasure

Even though I am not that smart, I am smart enough to be accepted in a university I am studying in

Even though I don’t have the right time-management, I still do my homeworks and try to be punctual

Even though I am full of doubt, I can make decision

Even though I am hungry at night, I choose not to eat midnight snacks.

Even though my desk is messy, I still have to clean and organize it once in a while

Even though I am not always confident, I can use affirmation to get my confidence back

Even though I waste so many time, I am glad I am not using it for drugs and other prohibited stuff

And even though I am not perfect, I am perfectly blessed

Do you know why I like this season of America’s Next Top Model? By this season I mean the new cycle 22. I like almost all of the cast, well except the bitsy (a nicer word than b****y) ones. Back to the question. I think I know why. Because it’s different. It’s different from the previous cycles. This is the bigger change than the cycle 20 which allows guys to participate as well. The change is : “There is no restriction in height”.

What I like aboutu this change is that :

  1. Being short doesn’t mean you can’t model
In fact, by using tricks, you can actually looks slender and taller.
  2. The stereotypes about model being tall and skinny is ripped off
The skinny stereotypes are not really relevant after plus models are coming out.
And so thus the shorter ones.
  3. Allow the participants to show their looks, potential and dreams.
I mean look at Nyle. He’s deaf, but he can pull it off like w.o.w.
He has the looks, he may not be that tall, he may not be perfect.
But look at what he can deliver to the judges and audiences! #teamNyle

It is a good change. And lots of opportunities for those who are rooting to be a participant. But height requirement blocks them from their dream. Anyway, in season 22, I really like the contestants. They come from different races, gender and height as well. I like their personalities too. I like the cheerful, crazy Devin, flower girl Ava, the bloody handsome Nyle, the always smooth, J smooth, the fierce Lacey, timid but strong Courtney, and the others. Although yes, there always be dramas in the model house. But I love them anyway. Can’t wait to see the winner. I really can’t choose one from those gorgeous models!

Finally to close this post. An anonymous quote : “Being different is one of the most beautiful things on earth”

Have you ever wonder,

How the world will be without internet?

Without internet, maybe my post, my writing, my thoughts would not be available online.

Read by some people around the world

Without internet, I would not

Be present in a digital world.

Update things happening in my life.

Communicating without paying much.

I just move to a new dorm room. And Today, a few hours ago,  I thought that the internet is not available, as the log-in page says it has reach it’s limit. I thought Oh no! I still need to update the instagram @encourager_quotes, I need to update my blog. I need to find some inspiration online for product packaging as I was asked for. What will I do without it! It seems like internet has play a big part of me. And maybe almost all digitalized people in the world.

Sometimes, it can be too much. Like we can’t even live without it. Like we should depend on it to relieve our stress. Like something can’t be done without the internet. Well, again, it depends on what you do. If we need to make art, share it on the internet, then it’s normal to say something like that. But, actually, most of the time, we need internet just to fill our spare time with watching youtube videos, procrastinate to find something more fun than work, and other little things. I am not saying the need of entertainment. I am saying, if it is too much, then you will depend and sucked into the blackhole. What am i saying.

Well during the time I thought the internet was off, I have been photoshop-ing while hoping that somehow it will show up again. I think I’m quite productive. There’s almost no distraction, except the sound of the traffic outside. And well, it proofs that you can actually focus more, if you just turn off internet for a while.

I say let’s make the best out of this technology and advancement. Let’s make something, share something good, give good comments. Be a good netizen. Doing good is no crime. I absolutely agree with what people say : “Do Good and Good Will Come to You”. Thanks for reading and see you in the next post.

Why time? Why?

Why time is so serious.

Seriously fast.

Seriously keep going forward.

Sometimes, seriously annoying.

And by annoying, I mean it.

Sometimes you think you just can’t get enough time. I know the time for each human is the same, 24 hrs a day you get is the same with what successful people did. Yeah, and still it’s the thing that out of my control. Time is also the cause of today becoming so powerful. So powerfully empowering me to be faster, not wasting any time, the one that seriously bothers me. So, today I suddenly want to go to see sunset. I said I will be ready at 4 p.m. to go to nearest beach in town. And I didn’t show up till like 4.30. My dad called me already enraged with firee. Well, although my dad also sometimes can be as awful as I do. So, because I’m late, all the way to the beach, I’ve been lectured with how important time is, how can you be so “lelet” (a.k.a slow like turtle), how can you speak so unclearly,  how can you be so chill about your dad disciplining you HAHA. I’m sorry dad :(. But, well I’m so chill, maybe I am used to this frequency of his voice when he’s angry. A stern, loud voice, disciplining me from like 18 years ago. Okay, I learned my lesson well. I can’t watch sunset (and get sunset photos) in the beach today and end up crossing the Suramadu bridge as an alternative. Going across the bridge takes Rp 300000 and twice to come back home. Well, at least I got some photos on the bridge. It’s better than nothing right. *innocentface* 😀

Quote of the day : “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” [Ephesians 5: 15 – 17]

p.s. : the photo that I took today might be featured in my 52 week photo projects this weekend. Stay tuned!

When You Believe

The title of this post is somehow familiar. Yes it is a song title. And you immediately link this song title with Whitney Houston. Bingo! Your answer is correct. Don’t get me wrong. I think Whitney Houston’s songs are all amazing, but this one is mesmerizing. Before, I have no idea of any of her songs except, the famous one, “I Will Always Love You”. As I heard When You Believe, I thought “This duet song is just w.o.w.”. I don’t know, but it stucks in my head since this Sunday. And I’ve been singing it almost every second of my life till I influence my sister to sing “when youuu beliiievee somehoww you willl” part over and over again.

New info for me is that late Whitney Houston sang this song with Mariah Carey. It is co-written by Stephen Schwartz and Babyface. For me both voices are beautiful in their own way. As I clue the fact behind this song up, I also found that this song is originally made for biblical animation “Prince of Egypt” which tells the life and journey of Moses. It is played at the film’s end credit. “When you believe” is describing the ability of achieving miracles, when you reach out to God and believe. It has reached no 15 in Billboard Hot 100, which is amazing. And also peaking on top 5 in several countries. The grand building where the music video takes place was in the Brooklyn Academy of Music performing arts center.

I just want to appreciate and thank anyone who creates and sing this beautiful yet profound piece. It is inspiring, it is delightful to hear, it made you believe that if you believe, then you will. And you will when you believe. Here is the lyrics :

“When You Believe”

Many nights we’ve prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts, a hopeful song
We barely understood

Now we are not afraid
Although we know there’s much to fear
We were moving mountains long
Before we knew we could, oh yes

[1] – There can be miracles when you believe
Though hope is frail, it’s hard to kill
Who knows what miracles you can achieve
When you believe, somehow you will
You will when you believe

Oh yeah, in this time of fear
When prayer so often proves in vain
Hope seems like the summer birds
Too swiftly flown away
Yet now I’m standing here
My heart so full I can’t explain
Seeking faith and speaking words
I never thought I’ll say

[Repeat 1]

They don’t always happen when you ask
And it’s easy to give in to your fears
But when you’re blinded by your pain
Can’t see the way, get through the rain
A small but still, resilient voice
Says hope is very near, oh

[Repeat 1]

You will when you
You will when you believe
Just believe
I believe, I believe
Just believe
You will when you believe

Inspired and Encouraged

I am backk in this creative world of mine after like.. 7 months (?) Yay! It doesn’t matter right? Hehehe. The thing that matter is that I have declared to be active again in this blog!

Why? You may asked. Well I don’t even know who read this blog except me, since this is becoming more and more like a personal blog. *It is a personal blog from the start, babo!* Well I did want to post in August, but its saved as draft I don’t know why. Back to topic, I try to make time everyday, or at least every week to write something. My personal goal is to write it everyday like Jon Jorgenson or Seth Godin did. They post everyday! I can’t even imagine! The thing is if we write everyday it is some kind of discipline. Or if you want to write a book for example, it’s a great practice that makes you creative and don’t get stuck in the middle of writing it!

I really get inspiration from Jon Jorgenson. He is a great motivational speaker. Even more, he is a follower of Jesus. He also recently got married to a woman he loves. *okay stawhp* He talks about the bible and encouraging others together with his amazing team at @theanimaseries. Check their youtube vids out! They are awesome.

Currently they are preparing for their tour in the US. How I wish I am there and can watch him and his team member! O.O Well at least I participated his kickstarter fundraising stuff, and I get an ebook as a reward!

As I mention earlier, he also writes a blog. For me, His blog mainly talks about creativity, personal growth, christianity and also lesson learned kind of stuff. This post about him is about self-help addiction. For me, it’s true that some people read self-help book, but don’t take action. And as a result we don’t make a difference. We end up cluing some stuff up, but never doing. It kind of remain me of myself. Like I read books, I know what’s good to do and what’s preventing me to achieve success, but rarely doing it.

Actually, self-help book usually contains guides or instruction “how to read the book”(well at least for the book I have read). And the author always emphasize on don’t just read, but apply it in your daily life, so that it become useful. #thereyouhaveit. That’s why I am encouraged to do different each time I read. It doesn’t matter how deep your knowledge may be, if you don’t know how to transform them to attitude, skill or habits. Then you can compare the one who is knowledgeable and the one who is smart. The one that knows what they are doing and the one that just know theories.

Well, see you tomorrow in the blog!
*yes I will make time to post!*

P.s. : check out my 52 weeks photo project 😋. I am trying to finish it off this year, but I think I will take it all the way to 2016. 😅

Identity, Self, Me

All started with

A Name

Name is the first label

Given by our parents

And no

It’s not

The bad, quirky label

Given by

Some friends

in teenage years

Even you sometimes thought

It’s sort of weird

Unusual, doesn’t make sense

Or even

Too casual, too mainstream or too common.

The name

It has meanings, stories and

Behind it.

That’s when all of this stories started, right?

The stories we called life

The stories we experience ourselves

Apart of our fantasies and imagery

Apart from our mind thinking

Facing forward

With all the things we could be

In the future.

Reminiscing the past

And still we can’t go back to joyous old memories

Nor that we can erase or time travel to those unpleasant, inferior experiences

No, because time machine hasn’t been invented yet

At least until now

But when we think it all over

It’s not that bad

That’s where the surprises are

The laughter

The quarrel

The love

All started

When you’re born

You’re given a name

Hey is such a word

Hey is such a talk

a very small talk

that starts our conversation

Hey is the beginning

of all of this

that happens

I wish you knew that

the Hey changes everything

perhaps I’m too delusional

or imaginative

but the hey you said

is not overly fictive

it means a lot to me 🙂

Not The Kind Of Night You See

The night I see might not be the kind of night you see

Waiting for Ketoprak sellers to finish my orders. I direct direct my view around. Observing.

Starting from left, I saw this enormous boarding house. It has 6th floors in total. The building is all white with the un-starry sky as a background. Some motorcycles are parked on the roads down to the building.

My eyes are distracted and start to move to the right

I see smokes flying up to the sky, The satay sellers are busy.

My view comes down a bit. And there’s fire. Burning orange. Burning those chicken meats. And so it’s where the smokes comes from.

Shifting my view a bit to the right. The traffic is not as bad as when the sun is still up.

There are 2 minimarkets. Side by side, competing. Somehow. On the second floor of one of the stores, I saw some girls by the window laughing. Maybe they laugh about the jokes coming from their friends. Maybe not. I don’t know. Only they know.

The ketoprak seller is still busy too. His hand is moving very fast. Mixing the ingredients.

My orders are right after the old man’s. I’ve waited enough. My waiting has come to an end. Ketoprak is ready, and still hot as I bring it home.

The night I see might not be the kind of night you see.
